(More customer reviews)We purchased this player for our Dodge Grand Caravan. We installed it ourselves (my husband is pretty mechanically inclined) and it was fairly hassle-free. We had to actually cut a hole in the headliner because the instructions suggest mounting it over your existing dome light, but in a GC it is too close to the second-row seats and we ended up installing it between the rear HVAC controls and the front ceiling console. You don't need a massive hole for installation and they provide everything you need, including wiring to hook it into an existing video system/sound system if you already have one. The IR works perfectly too - we bought two sets of kid-sized wireless headphones and they work perfectly with the unit. The only issue is the vague instructions (they were obviously NOT written by an English-speaking person, and were not too clear), so unless you are pretty mechanically savvy, it is best to leave installation to a professional.

Scratches on plastic pieces, and they should have cleaned the sneeze splatter off of the display prior to applying the "this should make you think it's new" protective plastic coating. Incredible. Don't get taken for over $100 like I did. Buy anything else anywhere else some other way, and you'll be better off than buying this unit from this seller on amazon.

Anyway, the screen was broken at the hinge and I was waiting for a replacement part. Well the part was on back order, so finally I just ordered another model. The button controls on the unit are really hard for little fingers to control, forcing you to use the remote control to control almost every function of the unit. Menus are very 1990s and not very intuitive. Although the unit has a USB and SD card slot, it does not recognize recent video codecs like mp4 (making the function useless for most Mac users). In other words, most of the functions of this unit that I paid extra for are practically useless.

(More customer reviews)I bought this July 6th 2010. I was leary of the size, quality & lack of any reviews on anything car video. I got it in @ 3 days in a box filled w/ packing, unmarred, & no issues with the monitor or dvd to this date. I will update.
After unboxing it all the way up until it was installed I thought it may be too big and would be too close for the kids. It fits perfectly between the headrests & right behind the overhead light in my Expedition. Kids absolutely love it, picture quality is great, and I can't wait to tailgate with it after I get an external antenna.
FYI
*You will wanna keep the overhead light if possible because there is no door light just manual switches & it sets it back far enough when flipped down that it is not in the front seats vision.
*The bundle with the 2 IR headsets W/ transmitter is a good deal. You do not need the transmitter though as the Monitor already has one built. Reason I put this in is I did not read that on the box for some reason, until about 30 mins of trying to figure out how to wire in and mount (hide) the ugly transmitter did I finally notice it on the box (friend of mine read it & I felt stupid)
*There are no speakers on this unit you must use FM Modulator or Headsets
Installation
Here is what I did to install it if you are interested. I tried looking for something like this before I started but couldn't find anything anywhere. It was a fairly easy install and will save you a small bundle if you got some mechanical ability and a helping hand. Hope this helps.
Removed headliner, centered & riveted a metal mounting plate across 2 roof beams, used expanding foam on plate to reduce noise, robbed power from the overhead lights, cut small hole just right of mouting plate in headliner to drop power cord, reinstalled headliner & secured manufacturer mounting bracket to mounting plate. Here is my one complaint the screws to mount the montior to the bracket are too small. They should have screw studs attached to the mounting backet so you can nut it up, would have been a hell of a lot easier. I had a friend use 2 hole punches to center it and luckily I got one screw to finally catch. That was the hardest part of the hole project and really didnt need to be that difficult. Those little screws make me a little nervous so I'll eventually replace them bigger self tappers that go through the headliner to the mounting plate. It took me @ 6 hrs to complete and I couldn't be happier.

After we had it installed we found out the monitor didn't work so we sent it back ($50+ shipping we had to pay for) and got a new one. Got the 2nd one installed only to find out the DVD player wouldn't read any discs and put nasty scratches on the discs that we tried to play. My husband and I and the installation tech tried to contact PYLE several times and got no answer and no return calls or email responses so we returned the 2nd one (again, another $50+ in shipping we had to pay for). Don't waste your money or your time with this product - it's a piece of junk! And after their lack of support, we'll never buy another PYLE product again.

I was looking for two specific products features, both of which this item clearly stated it had in its' item description, as well as on the product box that was included from the company itself. Those features were: Two audio AND video inputs, and built-in internal speakers. THIS PRODUCT HAS NEITHER OF THOSE THINGS. So if you were looking for a monitor that could be used without headphones, this isnt the one for you. If you're like me, you have a baby in the backseat who cant be expected to wear a pair of wireless headphones. Also, if you're like me, you wanted to be able to plug in two seperate items, with both items having audio and video. I needed this monitor to have two audio/video inputs so I can hook up the video and sound from both a dvd player, and my Sirius backseat tv. There were two video inputs, but only one set of stereo (red/white) audio inputs. What good is that going to do anyone if you need to have video and sound for two seperate devices? The answer is it wouldnt do you any good, unless you were willing to unbolt the tv from the mounting bracket everytime you wanted to switch between the tv backseat tv tuner, and the dvd player. Do yourself the biggest favor you can, and stay away from this product. One final note, the half page 'instruction manual' included with the package was written in very broken english. Obvious to me now that this thing is some cheaply made, falsely advertised foreign import piece of junk. Look at other product brands and avoid this one.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit on Dec. 19 to prepare for our long hour trip. My kids really had great time on the car as we carried lots of movies and music videos for them.
This unit is very good. I had it installed in my new Mercedes GLK350 for the price of $150 of installation fee. The quality of picture is great. the built-in FM transmitter works perfectly fine. If you have decent sound systems in your vehicle, you will feel like you are sitting in a theater. I recommend to buy this unit over other more expensive ones because it offers you everything you need for a flip down DVD player.
The only problem is the seller never respond to my email when I ask if they have other color for me to choose instead of black color.
I am not sure if I want to do business with this seller again.

(More customer reviews)i bought this item and was pleased with the screen size. once i installed it, it worked great other than a few things. the speaker is not very loud, and the remote is very odd. no matter where you point the remote it only works part time. the speaker has to be all the way up to hear over road noise. other than thatit worked great....until we were about to leave to come home. no the unit will not play the dvd in it,eject it or anything. its like a dvd is not even inserted. we were watching this movie the day before it messed up. so not only do i have a junk dvd player, but i also am out of a dvd because of this. i will give them a second chance, if they reply to my email quick. maybe i recieved a bad unit? all the other reviews were great for this product.
