(More customer reviews)I absolutely love this transmitter. I originally used the iTrip from Griffin and was constantly having to change stations whenever I traveled just an hour away from my home. This item, however, has clarity and quickly takes over the FM station of your choice. The best stations to choose are ones with very little interference from another stations, but don't choose the stations with just a lot of static. The feature that allows you to save two particular stations that work the best for your car is extremely useful.

After using this device for about a month now, I am extremely pleased with its performance. The audio coming through my vehicle's radio using this device with my Ipod is outstanding, with no hiss or other interferences. I prefer this device over other FM transmitters/chargers because it allows you to place your Ipod just about anywhere in your vehicle where it is convenient, due to the long cord on the device. The use of the cord on this device, as compared to other FM transmitters which require you to place your Ipod in/on the device, also allows me to keep the protective case on my Ipod at all times. The DLO TransDock Micro is a great addition to any compatible Ipod.

Griffin RocketFM / FM Transmitter for Mac and PC Computers Review

(More customer reviews)Works out of the box. It draws power from the USB port and definitely gives a stronger signal when connected to a powered USB hub than an unpowered one.
The included software is very easy to use on a Mac and lets you set the broadcast frequency in increments of 0.1 MHz, which is useful if you live in an area with lots of radio stations, as I do. However, the signal strength is pretty low, so you're relying on your receiver to achieve adequate discrimination between bands.
In my area, I had to go to an in-between frequency (.4MHz) from the regular stations to cut down on interference. My two big receivers (Sony & Panasonic) can handle this. My boombox picks it up, but gets lots of interference from the neighbouring stations. My portable radio doesn't get anything. I did appreciate the fact that the frequency is selectable anywhere in the standard FM range. Something like the Line X USB FM Transmitter with four selectable frequencies would not stand a chance in my crowded area.
Placement of the unit is very critical. Reception will vary widely when moving the transmitter around (and presumably the same for the receiver). If you have the patience to tweak it, it gives good to very good reception.
It is also very important to set the computer output volume to avoid distorting the sound.
Bottom line:
It's good enough to pipe iTunes to my receiver in the living room, but I probably won't take it traveling. Not bad for $30.
I might try to take it apart and either attach a bigger antenna or try to boost the signal. Alternatively, the C Crane FM transmitter would be an option that already has instructions for boosting the signal (but doesn't use USB).

Xact XTR1 Sirius Satellite Plug and Play Receiver Review

(More customer reviews)First off, the XACT is a very nice receiver. I have owned a PNP2 and this receiver and I prefer this one. The XACT, while not wearable, is very portable. You can even buy the Powerpod and take it anywhere you go. The size of the receiver does come with setbacks though, there are only 10 S-Seeks compared to 20 on most of the other receivers. The screen is smaller (although very nice), and the presets require a little more work to set. The greatest thing though is the service itself. It is great not to hear any commercials, and the music streams are top quality. The Talk, News, and Sports are also great. Sirius recently added a Maxim channel, which is quickly becomming one of my favorites. Sirius's sports are great, I am a fan of football and there is nothing like hearing your team that is normally not carried locally. In the end I recommend this receiver and Sirius.

(More customer reviews)I had been waiting for a product like this one for some time. It puts your entire music collection into the palm of your hand, and transmits the sound to your stereo. The performance far surpasses any FM transmitter, and works up to 30 ft from your stereo.
For $150, it is a bit pricey, but still worth it for me. As stated before, the sound quality is very good will little to no interference...worlds better than an FM transmitter...
Downsides....the peice that fits into the top of the Ipod is adjustable for either the full ipod, or the mini (by way of a sliding headphone jack), but lacks that little peice that goes into the smaller jack next to the headphone jack. because of this, the adapter spins around and doesn't feel like it is stable on top of your ipod. Other downside is that the adapter has its own battery source (does not draw power from ipod), which results in having to charge yet another item at your house.
All in all, it delivers on it's promise, just a couple of nuisances...

The battery did not fit in the battery bay as neatly as the production version from Dell. It sticks out just enough to make a rough edge. It was not enough of a problem to contact the vendor. Overall, I think it is still better than paying the cost of a perfect fit battery.

iLuv I701 Digital FM Radio Transmitter (White) Review

(More customer reviews)iLuv is relatively small and thin. Easy to carry around, will fit almost anywhere. Uses standard 3.5mm stereo audio connector. It is in no way iPod specific. I guess it has "i" in the name because every cool device these days has "i" in the name. You can use iLuv with anything. Laptops, MP3 players, Walkmans, CD players, anything standard. And with iPod too. Of course, if your device has non-standard connector (most mobile phones for example) you are out of luck.
It uses AAA batteries, which is not really a good thing. However, given that device is too thin for AA batteries, I'm not going to hold it against it. BTW, may I suggest rechargeables to everybody who bitches about price of AAA batteries. There is a 3V connector on it, so you don't need batteries if you have 12V to 3V adapter for car. I just got iLuv today, so can't really comment on battery life. It's been turned on for the whole afternoon with used batteries (that I pulled out of my old FM transmitter), and it still works.
It covers the full FM frequency range in 0.1 MHz increments. You can set it to virtually any unused FM slot. As far as I can tell, it stays at the dialed frequency and doesn't "pollute" reception of nearby stations (translated, your neighbors will not hate you). However, the range is very limited. You probably want to keep it no more than 10 feet or so from the antenna of your radio. If you are looking into buying it for use in car, this is not a problem. Tested. I placed it at the worst position in car, furthers away from antenna, and the sound quality was still good. If you want to transmit to the room on the other end of a house, you'll be very disappointed. It simply doesn't have enough juice for that.
There's some audible white noise when there's no input signal, but not any worse than some other devices I had in my hands. Don't expect miracles from something in this price range. If you'll be using it in a car (use most folks are buying this devices for), don't worry about it at all. Even if you have very quiet car, you won't notice this at all. On the other hand, if you are audio perfectionist, you'll probably have to spend much more money for something better.
Conclusion. iLuv is no worse then what I read in reviews for most other FM transmitters. It is way better then my old Radio Shack branded one.

Interference from power lines and radio signal relays regularly disrupt "broadcasts" from one's iPod to the FM station selected. As one travels, other stations can routinely be heard, replacing the programming on one's iPod. It's pretty annoying, and frequently renders the listening experience genuinely unpleasant.

(More customer reviews)I should preface this by saying I know what I am doing when it comes to A/V equipment and accessories. I am not some AV-challenged idiot who simply did not know how to use this product. Amazon.com should be embarrassed to even have this product listed on their site.
1.) The sound quality was TERRIBLE. I nearly blew my speakers when I turned it on as the volume and EQ was WAY off. Even after tweaking, it was lousy.
2.) The range was nowhere near 30ft. My FM transmitter for the iPod has a much better range.
The FM transmitter is a better solution, but still doesn't have the range. If someone actually comes up with a BlueTooth or RF transmitter such as this that actually works, I'll buy it. This product simply does not work and is not worth buying.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit yesterday (8-21-08) at Fry's hoping it would be simple to use. Similar to the new Roku set top box for Netflix. Unfortunately the VisonTek Pc2Tv seems to follow the trend of similar devices sold. Unless you have three days to kill messing with it; or money for a hardware/router changes don't bother.
-Pro:
- All cables are included and are of decent quality.
- The set top unit was detectable on my FiOS router, passing the ping test.
- Size: the set top unit is small enough to be put on most entertainment systems with a footprint the size of an average hardback book.
Cons:
-After 3 reinstalls the software still refused to find the set top unit.
- The error message read to check the subnets to make sure they matched. After double checking and resetting the router; the software would not detect the set top box. Despite being detected by the router itself, with matching IP's and subnet numbers.
- The only way to get the set unit to detect was with a wired connection. defeating the purpose entirely.
Conclusion:
Wait a few more months until the software and support catches up. In 6 months to a year they may have all the bugs worked out.

SanDisk Sansa e100 FM Transmitter Review

(More customer reviews)I have read a lot of negative reviews about FM car transmitters for MP3 players. I was especially hesitant to buy one from Sandisk because it is not really a well-known MP3 player like iPod, Creative Labs, etc. In the end, I figured it would be worth it because although the Sandisk e140 may not have certain features or size capabilities as others, it was definately a quality product that is very well priced, so I figured the FM transmitter would follow suite. Thankfully, I was right. The FM transmitter is by far one of the best design I have seen. The adjustable neck allows me to set the Transmitter right next to my CD car stereo and tilt it to face me, which allows me to hit the next song button as easy as it is to reach the car stereo. Other products I have seen are limp, or just wires that you have to rest on the center console, or passanger seat. The only downside to this is that although the MP3 player remains powered by the car its indigo light goes off after about a minute so I am unable to see the display. Not really a negative towards the transmitter, but of the MP3 player.
A key element I have read about faulty, or glitched FM tranmitters for MP3 players is that static can be heard in the background no matter how much you turn up the volume, and sound quality is very poor. Regarding the Sandisk, these are not issues at all. There are 3 presets so you dont have to find the good stations every time you use it. In addition, the sound quality is great, perhaps even better than the car stereo sound settings presently depending on the quality of your car stereo. The sound setting can be adjusted on your MP3 player to make the sound quality even more precise than the car stereo's.
Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone who has thought to buy an FM transmitter for their Sansa and avoided it because of other mainstream MP3 brands tainting opinions.
--One last note. I am in Chicago so I dont know if that is a cause for such good empty FM signals for the MP3 transmitter to pick up on.--

It looks good in my extended cab Chevy pickup. The biege color matches my interior great. The only negative thing is the sound is weak.
