The Icom IC-M34 VHF Marine Transceiver is the industry's first floating marine VHF hand-held radio. Compact and lightweight, this unit is incredibly powerful, with plenty of smart features that make it the perfect companion for any marine outing, whether it is just a few hours of fishing, or a week-long expedition.
The IC-M34 utilizes an easy-to-read LCD screen with a large 2-digit channel indicator that also displays the volume and SQL levels, and features both screen and key backlighting for easy night time use. This marine transceiver is also easy to use, with nine large buttons on the front panel that provide simple intuitive operation, and an easy-to-hold rounded body that fits securely and comfortably in your hand. The IC-M34 offers quick access to your favorite channels with a favorite channel function that lets you tag your most-used frequencies, as well as providing instant access to channel 16 and channel 9 in case of emergencies. What's more, this unit offers dual- and tri-watch functions, so it can constantly scan channel 16 as well as one or two user-selected channels so you never miss anything important. As an added convenience, the IC-M34 features an auto scan function, a two-step power saver, and weather channel reception with alerts for approaching dangerous weather.
Built tough, the Icom IC-M34 is constructed to not only IPX7 waterproofing standards, which means it can be fully submersed in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes, but has been designed to float in both fresh and salt water, so if you drop it you can quickly and easily retrieve it again. This unit also features an AquaQuake draining function which emits a vibrating sound that clears water away from the speaker grill. The IC-M34 is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack that provides up to nine hours of operating time, while a four-step battery indicator lets you know how long you have to go. This unit is completely portable, weighing only 10.8 ounces with the battery in, and measuring 2.44 x 5.56 x 1.69 inches (W x H x D).

The only thing is I wish it had a soft case you could put it in because the outside gets scuffed and smudged extremely easily and you can't get the marks off. These things can take a pretty good beating. Battery life is great to and the options for wireless/wired ipod and battery/acdc adapter use is just awesome. Totally loud and great bass and knocks the socks off of any competitive product. Actually, I take that back, this product doesn't HAVE a competitive product because nothing comes close to being as versatile and great-sounding.

(More customer reviews)I was really excited to get this product, it's our first summer with a pool and I was looking forward to spending my days outside with my music playing. Unfortunately, all I was able to listen to was static, distortion, silence, and the occasional second or two of music. We placed the base in many different locations, even tried putting the speaker outside of the pool. Nothing worked. If you were even remotely by the base, it blocked the signal and you got more static. I'm returning it tomorrow!

(More customer reviews)Perhaps their Wired line of speakers are okay - they certainly look pretty good. Canyon color was a little yellow for my liking. But I couldn't get them to work very well unless they were inside the house, in very close proximity to the transmitter.
There are other brands out there. Maybe they don't look like rocks, but they perform much better. I returned these.

(More customer reviews)I ordered one of these speakers for my husband for a birthday gift, reasoning that if he liked it, I would get another so that he would have stereo sound outdoors. We hooked it up tonight, and it has worked great for us. The setup only took a few minutes, and the sound clarity is excellent. It also looks good--either sitting or hanging. Although it's mono right now, it sounds fantastic--good enough that I'm ordering another so that we'll have stereo sound. I must note that we are very close to the sound source--ten to fifteen feet, so I can't speak for longer ranges. The speaker can be either plugged into an outlet (adapter included) or powered by batteries. We have ours plugged in, and don't intend to use batteries, so consider battery life if you don't have an outlet handy. Overall, we're really impressed by these speakers. I'll update if we encounter any problems.

I was playing it as a second speaker, hooking up to my Brookstone Boombox, and using the transmitter the speaker rock came with. The speaker sounded pretty good, however it started to break up after a few minutes. Seems like it never really kept the signal. It would work intermettintly. Great idea, great look, but couldn't get it to work continuosly. I worked with customer support who said that it is possible that the transmitter was defective. However I felt like it was just not going to work. Ended up returning it, sadly :(.

(More customer reviews)I was searching for wireless speakers for an outdoor event, and I'm certain these will do nicely. While it's true that the transmitter needs to be plugged into the music source (via a standard headphone jack that will fit all devices I would need it to) and into a wall outlet, I expected that. For a test run I plugged into my laptop sitting in the middle of the first floor then slotted 6 AA batteries into the speaker and turned it on. It automatically picked up the signal. I took a walk around the house and got about 100' away and still got good signal. I also like the feature to select L,R,or Mono on the speaker itself. Bass boost helps the sound a lot. Also, I was able to run 4 speakers from 1 transmitter. Don't know yet about interference or battery life for the speaker. I love the aesthetics of it.

I want to listen to the TV in the bathroom as I get ready for work but I don't want to wake her. This solved the problem. I bought an audio coupler for $0.99 and connected the TV audio out to the transmitter, turned off the TV speakers and viola! The speaker hangs in my shower and I can listen to TV in the bathroom without waking my wife. Awesome! She hooks up her iPod to the transmitter when she's in the bathroom for a soak in the tub or getting ready to go out. No issues with interference or volume.. then again I'm only transmitting over about 15' or so. Battery life has been good so far. Wish there was an indicator for the bass boost so you could tell if it is on or off (you have to press it and listen for the distortion) but I never need to use it so whatev. Again, perfect for what I needed so it gets the 5 stars!

(More customer reviews)I have had these for about 2 months. They are wireless and rechargeable. I use them to listen to movies outside. With my other assorted powered computer type speakers, people can never hear well enough even when they are at full volume. With these rocks, they ask me to turn the volume down. I haven't been using the rest of the speakers. (Much easier set up.)
However, I just ordered a second pair and today, every time I switch them on, they turn themselves immediately off. I don't know if it is a charging issue or something else. I have been charging them overnight so doubt that that is the problem. Except for this issue, they have been great. Hopefully, it is a little issue on my part.
