(More customer reviews)We purchased one of these devices to use for our church for audio recordings. While it picks up very well, there is a lot of noise that comes along with it. We tried new batteries, different rooms, balanced/unbalanced cables, different output devices -- it didn't matter, the buzzing around the speakers voice was always present and difficult to remove afterwards. The unit works well, and if you're not recording it would probably be fine (nobody could tell on the audio system). It just didn't work, though, for audio recording.

(More customer reviews)I'm very happy with this microphone. The audio is balanced very well. We have a Sony HD-SR1 camcorder which records in Dolby Digital 5.1. There is a setting on this mic to set it as the center channel. You can also set it as the primary mic as well.
Recently we used this to record our daughters Holiday recital. She is only five and this was a group singing event. The microphone picked up her voice as the main center channel and the rest of the singers surrounded her. This was very effective. It was so cute to hear her voice from the crowd. This would not have been possible without this wireless mic. It even picked up her whispers. We were sitting about 50-60 feet away and the sound was excellent and we the bluetooth connection was never disrupted or disconnected. We even used it for her meeting with Santa and it was incredible to hear her whispering what she wanted to Santa. Our past videos simply have lips moving with inaudible sound. What a great experience to capture with the simple addition of this microphone.
Pairing was very simple as you simply turn on both the camcorder portion and the microphone. The bluetooth receiver uses power from the hotshoe so it doesn't need additional batteries. You will need some AAA's for the actual microphone though.
I only have two minor complaints...
- The neck strap is itchy. This is hard to explain. It is a nylon strap and the back portion is melted on to connect the strap. The melted portion is hard and scrapes your neck. I'll look for another strap but it is hard to find one that will work since the mic opening is tiny. This is a very minor annoyance though.
- My second minor annoyance is that when wearing the neck strap, any slight movement causes quite a bit of rustling sound. This results in large hissing type noise. We tried it with both the wind guard (small felt like cover) on and off and still get the rustling. Problem is especially worse with winter jackets that are loud anyways. The solution would be to use the clip or armband but the clip kept falling off our daughter and she kept playing with the armband and it looked unusual to have the armband on. Again, not a big deal. We are learning how to use this better and will practice with better placement of clip/armband when the situation arises.
Those two issues are so minor, I don't really fault the product itself which is great. I wanted to rate this 4.5 stars but it only let me choose 4 or 5 so I'm going with 5.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for use with my Sony camcorder. I chose it because it was a 900 MHz system rather than the 100 MHz systems from Hysonic, etc. The included lapel mike is not very good. Lots of distortion and very cheaply made. I tried a better quality Radio Shack lapel mike, #33-3013 and got much better results. Compared to putting the mike right into the camcorder, the wireless transmitter shows considerably more noise and lower sound level. No noticeable difference in frequency response, at least for voice recording. Dropouts started occuring when I was about 50 feet away. Bottom line is this isn't broadcast quality but certainly adequate for amateur use.

Sennheiser ew 122-p G3 Cardioid Lavalier Wireless System, CH A Review

The microphone with THIS kit has a cardiod picup pattern (named for the fact that its polar plot is shaped like the heart) -- it will avoid sound from the side lobes and pickup sound from straight ahead on the microphone.
You might want to think about this abit before you jump to the cardiod pattern - if the mic tilts over during use (sennheiser's clip does that alot) you'll loose your speaker and get noise to their left or right whichever way it tips. This MIC MUST point at the speaker's mouth to get the sound. The omnidirection (EW112) kit will pick up sound from any direction comming into it, so as it moves around on the speaker's clothing you still get good pickup.
If you can lock the mic element down with a tieclip style mic holder then this mic may work better - but the factory holders pivot.

It was recommended by a local store to go along with Audio-Technica's PRO 88W VHF wireless microphone systems that are designed for use with a camcorder. However, upon receiving both items, I discovered the headset has a 4-pin connection, and the wireless set accepts 3.5mm pin. The descriptions clearly state this. I just didn't read it, since I was going on 'professional' advice. My bad. I will say, the headset does seem to be well made, for the price. It's probably a great buy if it has the right connection for your system.
That being said, American Musical Supply, who the headset was ordered from, was exceptional fast in responding to my request for a RA# to return the headset. Credit was promptly applied to my account. I will shop with them in the future!

(More customer reviews)I'm a bit surprised at the reviewer who gave only three stars to this system and said in his title: "I haven't used this system." How can anyone rate it without using it?
I've used this system for years and have gotten great sound. I've also used higher-priced wireless systems, and to my ear, there is no difference. Also, this cheap little Azden system is still going strong after some of the other brands bit the dust.
I don't think wireless lav systems can get the great audio you get with a shotgun mic, a boom, and a sound person, but those things are just not in my budget.
