(More customer reviews)I have had this Kensington FM transmitter for about 2 months and in my hands it has very acceptable sound and not alot of static.
Unfortunately it has one fatal design flaw that makes listening to classical, jazz and any other type of music with any quiet passages VERY FRUSTRATING. During the quiet parts the unit will shut itself off causing my car audio to emit a ear piercing screech when it loses the signal. I haven't measured it but it seems like as little a 10-15 seconds of quiet causes this behavior.
This makes this unit useless for classical music and quite a bit of jazz and other similar styles. If you listen to quiet music, avoid at all costs. If you don't it is the best transmitter I have tried.

When you plug in your iphone 2G, you get a warning saying that this is not an iphone compatible item and it will cause interference if you get a call while listening to your songs. Actual iphone items are insulated against this.
ALSO, i have not been able to successfully pair my iphone with this thing. it will show like it is paired, but will not actually put the call through if the iphone is docked.
I'm sure this would work if you DO NOT have an iphone and are trying to pair a regular phone and an ipod for the fm transmitter, but you CAN NOT use this as an FM Transmitter AND bluetooth for your iphone. it just is NOT happening.

(More customer reviews)The Belkin Tunecast is basically a small radio transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack of your iPod. The Tunecast transmits the music from your iPod to one of four selectable frequencies, which you can then listen to by simply tuning your home or car stereo to said frequency.
The most obvious advantage of this little device is the ability to use it anywhere there's a radio. Say you wanted to play your songs on your friend's stereo, or in your friend's car, or on a boombox at the beach: it's practically effortless with the Tunecast. And it's cheap, to boot.
Of course, what you gain in ease of use compared to, say, a direct line into your home or car stereo, you lose in sound quality. The sound is basically FM radio-quailty, with a noticible hiss in the background. Now, it's still more than listenable, and most of the time the music drowns out the hiss, but audiophiles in search of crystal-clear sound quality should look elsewhere (although they probably already know that).
Overall, I would recommend it simply because of its low price and versatility.

Maxell FMT-1 - FM transmitter Review

(More customer reviews)This is a very simple FM transmitter that's pretty much feature free. The trade off is it's price is much lower than most other FM transmitter you find in the iPod section of most retail stores. In fact, I actually found this product in the portable CD player isle (remember those?) of Best Buy
Pros:
-Nice price for those that don't mind the lack of bells and whistles.
-Range is good enough that your car should pick up the signal from anywhere in the car.
-Auto-shut off feature when it's not transmitting a signal.
-Works for any mp3 player with a headphone jack.
-Has that that cool Maxell "guy in the chair" logo on the back (probably not a real big pro, I admit).Cons:
-Might be too bulky for some. I'll try to get pictures up later, but for you gum or tobacco chewers it's about the size of a Bubble Tape or Skoal's container (as round as a soda can and a little under an inch thick).
-Requires 3 AAA batteries, which will be more of a con the more you plan on using the device.
-The four frequencies are in the 88 MHz range (88.1 - 88.7), which will be a con if that part of the dial is busy in your area
-I have to crank my iPod to full volume and turn the radio volume up a little higher than normal to get a good sound (this can be compensated by using my iPod's EQ, which sacrifices some battery life).
Overall, if you're thinking about getting a FM transmitter, but not sure how much you'll actaully use it, this is a nice, cheap device to test the waters. If you think you're going to use your mp3 player exclusively while you're in your car, you'll probably want to invest in a higher grade device.

(More customer reviews)While this player does a fairly good job of transmitting the songs clearly to the FM radio, reading the display during the daylight is difficult to impossible. The remote has to be very close to the player to function. also the unit doesn't support folders so all MP3s have to be placed into a common folder which makes it harder to locate and play a specific song.
Otherwise it is an OK player and the sound quality is good. The signal is strong enough so that the radio doesn't overlay a lot of static during playback. If this player had a more easily read display and supported folders, it would be a great MP3/4 player.

(More customer reviews)I got this to go with my Dell DJ. Since I go between two cars for my commute, I wanted something that wasn't "nailed down". This seemed to fit the bill. And it does, but I find myself constantly adjusting the tuner to clean up the signal while driving. I start off and the signal is strong, but 10 miles down the road it starts to fade and needs tuning. I do live in the Baltimore Washington area, so there are a lot of radio stations chewing up the air waves. I think the battery power source limits this items broadcast strength. And when you are near a city, regular FM is going to overpower battery-powered FM everytime. Good item as long as you are in a rural area.

The product works, but only for about 5 minutes before it starts skipping parts of the song it happens to be playing. If it weren't for the skipping, this would be a decent product.
The other problem is that there is absolutely no support from the manufacturer. All of the emails I have sent regarding the skipping have gone unanswered.
Don't bother buying this product. Donate the money to charity instead. At least it will be used for a good cause that way.

The volume on the player has to be maxed out, and then the volume on the car receiver has to be at least 50% to hear it good. You cannot skip many tracks at a time (only 1 at a time), which is very annoying since I have at least 250 songs on the device. The remote has to be aimed at the transmitter to work. The player does resume where you left off. It's not perfect, but I haven't seen anything better out there.

I brought this gadget from Walmart after doing some research on the internet. The device is very easy to use.. Just plug into the Car charger, Add the USB device tune to an FM channel and start listerning to the music. The sound quality is not bad for the price.
But there is a problem I came to know only after I brought this product. Every time you start the car the player starts right from the first song..:( this is very very bad becuase if I have 100 songs and I just listern to 50 songs..I have to push the next button 50 times to hear the next song...
Anyway I know this is not going to be a long term MP3 device to my car...So I am happy with what I have right now.
I paid 28$ for this one in Walmart. You can get a 1 GB USB drive to 50$ from any online store...

(More customer reviews)I got this for my Ipod, When docking your Ipod in it with the connector, the connector will not fit between the support arms at the bottom of the unit, so The Ipod sits high in it. Not low like in the picture. I will modify the support arms and hopefully it will work out. The other thing I noticed is there is no manual for it other then a small pictured paper showing what to use with what. How do you set the 4 memory presets for FM tranmission? Oh well tune it in manualy and works with out any static like some others I have tried. Still a better deal the the $100+ ones at your local retail store.

Needless to say that ate batteries like crazy - when you use it every day twice a day for a 42 mile one way commute to work... (I listen to a lot of books on tape & CD) When that finally died (the wires broke inside), I found this little gem! Plugs into the 'cigarette lighter', and since I have a Subaru, I don't have to worry about unplugging it to save the car battery. (I can see that being a problem for people who have vehicles with electrical systems that stay on when you turn the vehicle off - that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 - for my needs, it's a 5 all the way!) On the whole, the sound is fantastic - I use it with a casette player, a cd player (as the one in my car died), and my daughter's Ipod. You cannot tell the difference between the real radio and the broadcast. There is a good selection of stations to choose to from, and it's easy to slide from station to station if needs be. I've never found a reason to change my chosen broadcast station.
All in all - a great buy for the buck! (much cheaper than getting an entire new radio for the car just to listen to my books)

(More customer reviews)I owned and used a DLO FM transmitter for the Creative Zen Vision:M until it fell apart (and the Zen Vision:M itself was replaced by a Zen 32GB), so I needed a new one. Not having an iPod narrowed down the choices considerably, and eventually, after doing a lot of research, I decided to risk the Aerielle i2i.
My reasons:
1. It works with any MP3 player because it functions via the headphone jack;
2. It can charge any MP3 player -- or any other electronic device, for that matter -- that charges on USB, and play music at the same time;
3. You can input any FM frequency between 88.1 and 107.9, especially useful when you're looking for an unused FM frequency in a big town;
4. It includes the 3.5 mm audio cable that will allow it to reproduce the player's sound. It also includes the USB cable, but most of us have dozens of those lying around.
Setting this FM transmitter up is straightforward and logical. Its compact body contains the LCD display that shows the FM frequency, the tune up and tune down buttons, three station present buttons and the power / cigarette lighter plug. The body is connected to a small extension by a short cable. This extension contains the 3.5 mm audio jack (for sound) and the USB connector (for charging). Although this layout seems awkward at first, it makes sense because you never have to remove the transmitter from the power socket to plug or unplug devices from the 3.5 mm or USB connectors -- everything is close by and easily reachable.
The Aerielle i2i seems to be solidly and well built, and its texturized finish is non-slip. It does exactly what it is supposed to do: transmit the MP3 player's sound to the car's sound system. The sound quality depends on finding a free FM band, not so easy in the congested big towns but not a problem the farther away you get from them. My first run with it was in a metropolis, so all I got was acceptable sound quality -- on par with my dismembered DLO. I'll complement this review once I try the Aerielle out on the empty road, but so far it is doing well.

(More customer reviews)For the money this transmiter is okay if you are listening to music. If you are listening to Podcasts or other spoken recordings it does not work as well. I listen to a lot of sermons and other Christian radio broadcasts downloaded off of Itunes. When listening to a spoken program the there is an iritaing hum or ringing type noise. I am considering buying another transmiter by soundfly from Amazon.
For $10 though this transmiter is not a bad buy especially if you are going to listening primarilly to music.
