(More customer reviews)I bought this item primarily to play music off my iPhone 3G through my radio but the transmitter is extremely weak. I live and work in the Los Angeles/Orange County area so the frequencies are pretty jammed packed.
Pros:
- iPhone fits nice and snug
- Easy to set up and plug in
- I drive an older BMW and the location of where this cradle sits is perfect
- Navigation with remote is fast and easy
Cons:
- Weak transmitter, at best, I heard about 5 seconds of music/slight static before it went completely out of range and back again
- I can definitely see myself using this while traveling since I believe once I'm in the open, the frequencies will open up more, but definitely not for city use
- Static/transmitter doesn't improve in airplane mode either
I would definitely keep this if only the transmitter was stronger but alas, I will be returning this item and search for a new FM transmitter for my phone.

The MKi9200 is OUTSTANDING; I wish I had installed one a long time ago. The installation for my 2006 Trailblazer required a wiring harness from one of the Parrot vendors listed on their website which costs an extra $75. Regardless, the voice recognition feature is perfect and the radio mute feature works seamlessly with my factory stereo. The calls are crystal clear and everyone can hear me without any difficulties. I found the installation fairly easy and would recommend this product to anyone who is tired of charging, turning on/off, and finding, your blue tooth ear piece.

(More customer reviews)(UPDATED) This kit comes with 2 methods to connect to your car stereo: 1) using an AUX jack or 2) using the PowerConnect feature (FM transmitter) built in to the XMp3i player itself.
After receiving the XMp3i for my birthday, I ordered the car kit so I could enjoy satellite radio in my vehicle (2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer). The cable for the antenna is nice and long, so you can run it from your dash, all the way to the top/rear of the car, with a little leftover. All of the cables plug into the dock, so you can remove your XMp3i and hide it or take it with you without any hassle. It comes with a remote control, which I thought was silly at first, but after using it, I realized that it's much easier to use the remote when driving, than to use the buttons on the player. As long as you position the antenna like the instructions describe, the reception is just as good as a factory installed XM radio (I've had both).
It comes with two mounting methods (dashboard mount or clips for your air conditioning vent). If you use the adhesive dashboard mount, make sure you know exactly where you want it, since it only comes supplied with a single adhesive strip. Otherwise, you'll have to go buy some of those super-adhesive foam strips made by 3M. Certainly not a deal-killer, but a little annoying.
Overall, the car kit from XM was easy to install. Now I can listen to satellite radio on those long road trips! Hooray!

When you plug in your iphone 2G, you get a warning saying that this is not an iphone compatible item and it will cause interference if you get a call while listening to your songs. Actual iphone items are insulated against this.
ALSO, i have not been able to successfully pair my iphone with this thing. it will show like it is paired, but will not actually put the call through if the iphone is docked.
I'm sure this would work if you DO NOT have an iphone and are trying to pair a regular phone and an ipod for the fm transmitter, but you CAN NOT use this as an FM Transmitter AND bluetooth for your iphone. it just is NOT happening.

1. The transmitter is strong and crisp
2. Works with the iPhone 3g
3. The arm is great - moves around to wherever you wish. Very sturdy.
4. You only need to insert the jack for hands free calling (only need the charger to listen to music).
Overall & originally, I was overjoyed at how well this product worked.
Now, the bad:
1. It doesn't swivel so that you can put the iPhone in landscape/coverflow mode... Not a big deal though... But what IS a big deal:
2. The unit actually "beeps" about once a minute. Sometimes you can hear it really well (listening to talk radio), and sometimes not at all (but usually you will hear at least one beep every five minutes or so). I wrote the MediaGate Tech Support, and their reply was:
"The reason for it beeping every 30 seconds or so is in order for the FM transmitter and FM radio to stay active and not in idle mode, it requires the unit to beep. This is a normal feature but unfortunately there is no way of turning this off."
I'm not sure if I am going to return this yet; but I have a feeling it could go one of two ways... Either it drives me insane, or I just start not hearing it like a grandfather clock. I'll try it for another couple days and see how I feel...

(More customer reviews)I got this for my Ipod, When docking your Ipod in it with the connector, the connector will not fit between the support arms at the bottom of the unit, so The Ipod sits high in it. Not low like in the picture. I will modify the support arms and hopefully it will work out. The other thing I noticed is there is no manual for it other then a small pictured paper showing what to use with what. How do you set the 4 memory presets for FM tranmission? Oh well tune it in manualy and works with out any static like some others I have tried. Still a better deal the the $100+ ones at your local retail store.

First impression when I got the package - had clearly been a returned product without any instructions, damaged packaging, and areas of writing blacked out with marker. Item clearly works to charge my ipod touch but only has 4 frequencies on the side to select and they are all extremely close together - it does NOT transmit on all frequencies as the ad claims. Cheap plastic but might hold up for light use. Will be returning this item.

Motorola Roadster Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone Review

(More customer reviews)Was excited to learn about this new product from Motorola - I previously had the Motorola T505 and liked it (but it broke), so decided to try the Roadster thinking it was the top of the line. I was quite disappointed however.
Without writing a whole chapter on here, I tried 2 different Roadsters. The first time I got it, I noticed one strange thing about the unit. According to the features and the instruction manual, the device is supposed to auto power off and on depending on if it senses your connection. I tried this, but it did not work. It would auto power off if I left the car, but when I returned, the device would remain off. Further more, the device would not power on EVEN if i manually turned it back on. It would basically just be "dead" - no response whatsoever regardless of what I did, even if I turned off my phone's bluetooth and back on, or unpaired and repaired. It seemed as long as the Roadster was listed as a pairing device in the phone, it would not work - the only way to wake it back up was to tell my phone to "forget this device" (i have an iphone), and to completely begin the pairing all over. It's not a big issue per say, since I could easily get around it by just turning it on and off manually. I just thought if this was an advertised feature, then it should work that way. Plus, for the times I forgot to manually turn the device off before leaving the car, everytime I came back I'd have to go through the tedious process of resetting the device (different from unpairing reguarly).
I thought this might've been a defect with this unit, so I went back to Bestbuy and exchanged it for another unit. This one, even worse - I didn't get the chance to try to the auto on/off because I immediately noticed another issue. With this unit I just exchanged it for, FM transmitter mode would NOT work if the battery cable was plugged in. If I unplugged the battery cable, then FM mode would work fine. I tried resetting the device to factory settings but to no avail. Since bluetooth was successfully synced, this tells me it's not a compatibility issue but a defect in the device.
It's a pity because I really think the Roadster is a great product, just marred from design or build defects.
Needless to say, I ultimately returned it for a full refund.
On the side though, when the device worked, I noticed these pros and cons:
Pros:
- Speaker volume is sufficiently loud and clear even when driving on the highway or on rough pavement. However, there's a slight "boom" if the volume is set at the highest point
- Pairing is really fast, and the voice guidance is helpful. The female voice is also not as robotic sounding as my previous T505
- Very easy to scan FM channels - allows not only auto scanning but manual selection as well (via +/- keys), which makes it easier to get a channel.
- Illuminated keys - very helpful at night
- displays battery level on your iphone
- while on the phone, people on the other end have reported pretty clear quality, albeit sounding a bit "distant"
Cons:
- Quality and potential defects I mentioned above
- I found the FM transmission quality in my old T505 to be clearer than the Roadster. The Roadster's transmission always seemed to have a little static (same channels I used as my T505 on same roads), and sometimes faded in the background or did not sound as crisp
- Status lights (i.e. paired, unpaired, audio streaming, etc.) are very tiny LEDs on the side of the unit - impossible to see while driving

(More customer reviews)After a extensive research, I decided to buy the Satechi Bluetooth FM Transmitter, mainly to reduce cables in my car and play audio via Bluetooth and FM. The unit also had a USB Power Supply, a useful feature that would supply juice to my iPhone 3Gs.
Setup was fairly easy.
Once you plug the device into the cigarette lighter, it automatically searches for a Bluetooth device. On my iPhone, it showed "Carkit". I entered the passcode (this is the only time I used the manual) and the connection was made. First thing I tried was playing music. I was impressed with the sound quality, like a good fm station. With excitement, I instantly called my wife. She said she could hear me clearly, like calling from my office landline.
However, her voice sounded very low even I turned the volume all the way up on my stereo. When I was losing all my hopes, I found out I can turn on the volume of Bluetooth sound via the volume buttons on the left hand side of the iPhone. I called my wife again and turned iPhone's volume all the way up, and voila! I could hear her nice and crisp now. Last thing I tried was charging my iPhone via the USB supply. Voila, again! :) It was charging my iPhone. This device met all my expectations.
One issue I realized after using the unit is that if you get a call and answer from your iPhone, the call goes to your iPhone instead of the Bluetooth device. However, if you answer the call using the answer button on the Bluetooth device, you get the call from Bluetooth. This bothered me a little bit. I made a research on the net and found that this is an issue that happened after the 3.0 update, nothing related to Satechi Bluetooth device.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. Satechi Bluetooth FM Transmitter is a solid device with a reasonable price tag. I strongly recommend it to iPhone 3Gs owners.
Pros
-Make calls and listen to music wirelessly
-Good Fm reception
-Charges the iPhone 3Gs
-Didn't need it yet, but "aux in" can be used to plug other iPods
Cons
- Forward/skip Play/Pause buttons could be handy, but iPhone 3.0 software doesn't support them, yet anyways.
- I agree with another comment, external microphone would be nice.

(More customer reviews)I love this product! It is very easy to use, and it makes listening to music/talking on the phone much easier in the car. The 'snake arm' adjusts to fit the power outlet in my car, and there is a tilt ability for the actual holder. This fits my iPhone 3G with a thick case on. It can also adjust smaller than that for a regular iPod. The sound quality is near perfect - you just have to turn up the radio a little higher than normal. The FM transmitter adjusts to any FM channel.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. This isn't a name brand product, but I would consider it comparable to one. I've been looking to buy one for a little while now, and have seen them going for $70 and up. This is a steal at $22!

What it doesn't say is that it that you will get a message stating that it will only work in AIRPLANE MODE. Click "NO" to NOT go into AIRPLANE mode and it wil work fine anyway.
Also, you can skip connecting the charging piece and only connect the sound/headphone output to the FM transmitter -- it works fine as well.
